DominicDominic Ruggieri,  Leader / Reeds


Began playing reeds at an early age of six.  He organized & led a 17 piece high school dance/jazz band called the Rebel Cats.  While in college, he played with numerous jazz  groups & led the University Dixieland band  and spent 4 years in the 561st Air Force Air National Guard marching and Jazz band.  Played with various jazz bands and combo’s throughout the San Jose Bay Area and was a member of the Saratoga Community Concert Band in the late 80’s.  Upon retiring in 2001 he moved to Shingle Springs, in the foothills of El Dorado County & joined  Black Tuesday in 2002 and the  Sierra  Symphony in 2010.



Jan BuhlertPlectrum guitar/Banjo


Began playing banjo in his Junior year of High School after playing trumpet for many years in marching bands, concert bands, dance bands and jazz bands.  While in college played banjo in many various venues.   In 1962 joined the Phabulous Dixon Phirehouse Philharmonic Jazz Band and is still a member of that band. Toured Hawaii 5 times with the Phirehouse Philharmonic, played on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean, a cruise ship going to Canada and hundreds of other gigs.  Jan is  a collector of over 70 pre - war banjo’s.



                                 Alan Ginter, Bass

                       

Alan started playing Bass in Newark, N.J.  At age 13, he obtained a

special license allowing him to play where liquor was served.  For well

over 50 years, Alan has performed around the world with various singers, bands. Alan has B.A., B.S., and M.A. degrees in Music along with a CA Teaching Credential in Music.                                



Mike Hudson,  Trombone


A fixture in the Sacramento area jazz scene since 1979.  Mike has been featured in bands like the Camellia City Hot Six, Hangtown Jazz Company, the Beez Knees Jazz Band and others.  Before that Mike played in San Francisco in show bands and several jazz bands lead by Cuz Cusino, Rudy Castro, Jive’n Jack Shafer, the Bay Bones, and the Gary Young Orchestra.



                                    

Dave Johnson, Trumpet /Flugelhorn/Vocals


Dave  has 35 years of experience as a professional musician and educator and is in high demand as a freelance trumpeter in the greater Sacramento area.  Dave has filled seamlessly filled the trumpet role for Black Tuesday since 2013.  He performs regularly with other bands, such as Sister Swing, Peter Petty and his Double Review and many more.





   Ron Jones, Drums                    


   Began playing drums at the age of 11, self - taught, and by the age of 14 was playing professionally.  After joining the Air Force as a jet mechanic, he continued to play in local bands.  In 1972 he became drummer in the Alaskan Air Command Band playing in Air Force show bands for nearly 9 years.  After retirement from the Air Force Ron continued to play in all kinds of bands from country to big band Jazz combos. Over the years he has backed many top named entertainers, including Frankie Laine, Maxine Sullivan, Kay Starr, the Ink Spots plus many more.  Ron moved to Sacramento in the early 1980's and continued to be heard in many top West Coast jazz Bands.  Ron performs regularly with other bands, such as Sister Swing and the Bob Draga Quartet, a familiar face on the jazz festival circuit.




Alan Shaw, Piano


Began playing piano in grade school and played mostly as a solo pianist for many years. In the 1980’s became leader and keyboard player for "R U SURE BAND" in the Bay Area for seven years.  On retirement moved to Bakersfield, perform as soloist and with various jazz bands on occasion.  Alan has written some original music.



Suzanne Wiggins,  Vocalist


Has performed with various local bands singing a variety of styles from Top 40, Rock-n-Roll, Blues and swing jazz standards from 1975 – 1984.  She has performed as one of Sacramento’s top Diva’s in the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. Suzanne is the only remaining original member of the Black Tuesday Jazz Band.
